The ‘One Month to Live’ challenge is coming to Elk City. The event is based on the book ‘One Month to Live’ by Kerry and Chris Shook. The book encourages its readers to embrace life and live with no regrets.
Planning for this challenge has been ongoing for several months with excitement rising within not only Elk City, but Western Oklahoma. “This is a 15-hour investment over 30 days that can change your life,” said Jeff McDowell.
On Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Pioneer Center, the ministerial alliance is planning a special event to begin this campaign. Billy Shaw and Unified will be providing praise and worship and there will be several encouraging testimonies from people who have already been through this challenge. Local guests will include Mayor Mullican, Senator Ivestor and Representative Walker. Area churches from all over Western Oklahoma including Elk City, Mangum, Leedey and Burns Flat are involved in making this challenge a life-changing event.
“Any individual, any church who is involved in this campaign will be blessed,” said Danny Ringer. To view participating churches visit GreatPlainsChallenge.com. There have been over 400 books pre-ordered for individuals already committed to the challenge. Books will be available at the event on the Feb. 21.
“It’s the body of Christ coming together to live changed lives,” commented Joe Thompson. “This unified event is not a lecture series. It is an exploration-one that we hope you will join this month. Come and be a part of this challenge as we try to answer the question what changes would I make if I only had one month to live.”
